DSL Sharing

By dksj ·
Can I use Internet Connection Sharing in W2K or Win98 to share my DSL connection? I believe ICS is geared towards dial-up connections. How about W2K Server NAT?

Yes you can. Add a NIC to the internet machine and away you go. NAT too.

DSL sharing........maybe!

Make sure your ISP allows multiple log-ons. Many have shied away, making ICS or Winpoet sharing useless. Also dpends on the modem type.

Yes, but...

My preferred way to do this is to use one those neat DSL "routers" from Asante, 3Com, Intel, US Robotics, D-Link, LinkSYS, etc.

This way, I do not need to have both PCs on to use the Internet from the PC that is NOT my gateway, and I don't impactperformance on the gateway (ICS) computer.

Ther is a way, if your dsl connection have a router, you can make a small Lan (with a hub) and then it is not a big problem
