    DSL w/ 3 subnets & 3 public addresses

    Locked

    by don ·

I have three doctors’ offices wanting to share a single DSL connection (all located in same building). I want to put a firewall between DSL router and the three subnets. Also, each office needs one public ip address and the current DSL router onlyallows one.

Suggestions for best products and configuration? $$ is not necessarily an issue.

    Thanks, Don

There are a couple of ways to go.

      1 – DSL –> DSL “Modem” –> DSL Router –> Firewall (Cisco PIX 515) –> LAN Router*

      * 4 Ethernet ports, one to each Dr. office, one to the firewall. Establish Gateway of Last Resort for each Dr. office as the PIX. Suggestion: Cisco 2611 with extra Dual Ethernet module

      2 – DSL –> NEW Router**

**with 3 Ethernet interfaces (one for each Dr. office), DSL WAN Interface (replaces DSL modem), plus IOS Firewall Feature Set (DO NOT RELY ON ACCESS LISTS). Suggestion: Cisco 2610

Question: Why does each office need their own public IP address? If actually required, this is something you will need to take up with the DSL provider.
