dual boot issue windows 98 and windows xp

I have two os windows 98(c drive) and windows xp(d drive) recently i have formated c drive using dos format command. now i am not able to boot my system Actually what i want is my system should boot from windows xp(d drive) what i should do now..?

You Cannot Format c:

Whether you have one or more operating systems on your computer, C: is always the boot drive, whitch will give you your selection menu, so if you format c: you will have a non-bootable computer.
Reinstall WinXp using a bootable XP cd, if nit gives you the selection "upgade" that's good because it will preserve all your setips, otherwise a new version is setup and you will have to all your other softwares

Just delete it

Boot in safe mode, and delete the version on d:, not all files will be deleted because the running xp will detect that you are trying to delete essential files (it does not descriminate whether it is using this version or the one from the running location)
The last resort (which i don't like)is to format d:, make sure to backup your files, this format will not affect the system start up.

Is it possible to restore windows xp os in d drive by modifying boot.ini file or any configuration files. so that i need not reinstall windows xp in c drive
