Dual boot NT4&XP NTFS version changed

Disk administrator in NT4 says that it can’t access the file system due to a too new version of NTFS. The NTFS on the NT4 partition has obviously been altered by XP in some way causing disk admin not to function and checkdisk in dos mode is also broken… The system boots and works ok.
Partition 1: primary w NT4 and the NT4 bootmanager. Partition 2 is a logical disk with an XP on it.
What can I do to restore the NT4 version of NTFS so that checksidk etc. works on NT4.
