Dual boot on Windows 98

By BMccovey44 ·
How to create the logical drives necessary for two bootable operating systems,Windows 98 already installed and want to add Windows 2000. What do I need to do? I have a 40 GB hard drive with only 7.5 GB used.

What you need is a Disk Resizer program that will allow you to create a second partion while keeping your data intact. You can find them on the web. The one I use Disk Resizer. Its a freeware program. Once you create the second partion you can install on the second partion

To create a dual boot Windows 98/W2K, you will likely need to partition the drives to the size for each operating system
You will need a partition software suchas partition magic or partition commander,to resize the partitions to desired size then you will want to install Win 98 first and then install W2K
See the following sites for dual booting

3)see microsoft knowledge base Q153762

Assuming you're not using the Win2K dual boot facility, use something like Partition Magic or System Commander. You'll need the boot manager installed on a FAT partition and create 2 primary partitions, one of must be active the other must be hidden. Unhide the partitions and mark as active in turn to allow install of the OSes. Run the boot manager and set up both primary partitions in the boot menu.
