Dual boot problems?

By jmarquez ·
I find that when I install W2K Professional on a second partition it causes NT 4.0 of the dual boot to give me the blue screen on shut down. I can correct the problem by reinstalling service pack 5.

Now a new problem is created on startup. On the screen for selection of operating sytem When I select W2K the machine restarts itself and does this all the time I select W2K. Why?

Dual boot problems?

by Diamond Dan In reply to Dual boot problems?

Hi jmarquezzz,

Try booting into Win2K in safe mode and see if it still reboots. I had a similar problem of constant rebooting when I was running a dual boot with Win2K and Win98SE.

By entering 2000 in safe mode, I was able to locate the 'offending' driver and disable it so that I could reboot normally and get an updated driver from the web.

I'm not sure what is causing your reboot problems, but safe mode let me at least get inside so that I could 'poke around' and find the problem.Regards,

Dan
