dual boot: win2000 server x 2

By D.C. ·
I am trying to install two win 2000 advanced server Operating Systems on one hard drive under two different partitions. The issue is that I need to have the primary/system drive be different on each partition. The default installation sets the system volume on the same partition for both OS install.
Is there a way I can set the system volume before the system is loaded???
I am aware that Win2000 does not allow you to rename the active sytem and boot volumes.

Any workarounds.
Thanks

dual boot: win2000 server x 2

when you are in the missing on step you you are in the gui interface.
on the right there are some windows with several options.
when going through them you can specify where the system volume should be.
the default is the c or the partition with most hd space available (windows choose that automatic for you), in this you need to change that.

there are a couple of ways to install the dual boot, if the cd is bootable or using a "upgrade from with w2k self" but then specify another partitionso it will be in fact a clean install.

if those recommendations don't help, specify how you are installing the dualboot.

regards,

Leopold

Do you heard about partition magic before? This might help your problem. You can do 2 active partition as well(Virtual).

In addition, you might want to try another option using WMWare? Microsoft actually using this software as well. Quite stable.Till then,

Cheers!!
