Dual boot WinXP, RH, WME and now, Win'03

By mingteikg ·
Hey,

Currently I have WinXP in my hda2, WinME in hda1, RH in my extended partition, hda 8.

I will be going to install Win2003 on my hdb

May I know do I need to install Win2003 on a primary partition? If I install it as a primary partition, am I able to see my other hard disk content (since only 1 primary partition can be visible)

Or if better, can someone post me with the exact steps on installing all 4 OS and which should be a primary partition and stuff?

Thanks.

"May I know do I need to install Win2003 on a primary partition?" No. Windows 2003 installs like Windows XP. It uses a boot.ini file on the boot partition (primary) which can be diff from the system partition.

I need more information.... Can you be more specific?

I was told that we can only have one visible primary partition, right? So if the hdb hard disk is the visible primary partition (when I boot into Win2003), will I be able to access the WindowsXP partition, which is on hda2?

Yes, you can still access your Windows XP partition.

So if I install my Win2003 on my new hard disk, it wlil update my boot.ini file... Currently the boot.ini file is on my hda2 (C:, which is WinXP). So after installing Win2003, it will be located at E: (Win2003, hdb)?

Once it works for me, I'll have it rated acceptable. :)

Thanks.
