Dual broadband / dial-up internet access on XP Home.

By jjarvis ·
What is the most user-friendly way of providing two different internet connections on an XP PC? The reason is to use broadband (via USB ADSL modem) for surfing and to use dial-up to access existing email accounts which must be retained. The provider of these email accounts requires regular dial-ups otherwise they suspend the account! Any ideas?

Simple solution(s)?

I can't believe no one has replied to your qq!

The easiest method I have found is to create the dial-up connection and place a shortcut to it on the desktop. To check the 'special' email, instruct the user to first connect via the dial-up icon on the desktop, then launch their email program.

The second method, if your email client allows it, is to set the 'connections' to always use dial-up for that email and disconnect when exiting. This may take some work/trial and error/ on the tech's part but requires less of the user.
