dual channel memory

By bob ·
My board supports dual channel memory.
I purchased the memory that is tested in pairs, especially for dual channel boards.
My question is this:
There are two banks, A & B
Two memory chips in the pair.
Does one of the pair go in A and the other in the coresponding slot in B, or do both pieces from the pair go in the A slots? (or B slots)
There are 2 slots in the A bank and 2 Slots in the B bank.

Typically the pair goes to the 1st slots of A and B. Think of A as Primary and B as Secondary in IDE channels. If you have just two hard drives, you want the first HD in Primary Master and the second in Secondary Master.

This is what I thought it would be, but the question came up in my mind and I had to ask.
The analogy to the hard drives was very good.
THANKS
