dual NIC card configuration

By BiggieG ·
I have a Windows 2000 server that I'd like to configure with dual NIC cards configured with static IP addresses on the same subnet. Is this a feasible configuration? The servers on this subnet are using Lmhost files. WINS is not being utilized. I've experienced the server accepting requests on one NIC card but sometimes trying to respond back on the second NIC. Is there a way to force response back on the card in came in on?

What are those NICs connected to? Why do you want 2 interfaces on the same subnet? If it's for performance, look into upgrading your core device.
A 10mb switch will out perform a 100mb hub. A 100mb switch with 16 ports can be had for under $100 these days.

Our development group was looking to separate traffic onto a second NIC and I didn't know if it was acceptable pratice to have dual NIC's on the same subnet. It may not make sense but I need to give a reason if it's not feasible to have that type of configuration.
