Dual NIC on WinNT

By boyet401 ·
We have just built a network for our college. In the lab, we have 33 workstations and 2 WinNT servers. In the faculty room we have 15 PCs all running Win98. I would like to install another NIC on one server and configure it to act as a gateway between the two rooms. How should I configure the NICs?

Make sure each NIC has a static IP address. Configure NIC1 to be the default gateway for NIC2 and configure NIC 2 to be the default gate for NIC1. Configure the clients to use as a default gateway the NIC they connect to.

The 2 NIC's on the NT server should have valid IP addresses for the lan they are connected to. Then all that is required is to set the IP Forwarding on the NT box and the pa's on either side should point the Gateway to the NIC on their side of the network.
