DUN is connected but won’t pass packets

by guy west . Updated 25 years, 4 months ago

I’m having some troubles establishing a dial-up connection. Actually everything seems to hook up O.K., and I get the little icon in the corner that shows we are connected, but I get a DNS error page when I try to get on the internet, or our email program cannot find the mail server at our ISP. Sometimes I’ll have to disconnect and reconnect several times before I get a connection that works. Yesterday afternoon I could not get a get a good connection at all. This morning our connection is working fine. Our ISP says there are no problems on their end and the problem is on our side. I’m running Win98SE with a 56K modem. I’ve dumped and reloaded DUN and the TCP/IP stack. All my DUN,TCP/IP, and DNS settings are correct. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the steps I might take to correct this when it happens again?
