Duplicate email

By emillanar ·
I am using outlook express 5. I am sharing a email account with my fellow worker. I set it to leave a copy on the server in the advance option. Both of us are getting the emails but we are also getting duplicates. How can we solve this kind of problem? We need to get the same email anytime but we don't want duplicates. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Duplicate email

Without knowing what type of server you are accessing this is a little difficult to troubleshoot. The fact that you are both leaving copies on the server is why you would get the duplicates - one of you needs to remove the messages once they have been received. A cleaner solution depends very much on the server, as with some systems you can setup your own e-mail addresses, and then set the shared address to forward new messages to both accounts. This then removes the need to leave the messages on the server, and means that you both get all the messages that come into your shared account.

Hope this helps

It sounds like both your accounts are downloading the same mail.
What you need to do in Outlook Express is :
Click on "Tools", "Accounts", than highlight one of your accounts.
Click on properties, in the General Feild, untick the "Include this account when ..." box.
Now you will only download from one account but send from both :-)

Cheers :-) (easy 400 points)

We need to get the same email. If I do that then only one of us will get the email.

If one of you gets the emails before the other, that account can leave the mail on server, while the other one would download the mail of the server.
If there is no way of telling, you might want to consider a mailing list or a local small mail server (many free ones exist).
Mor eoptions are found in the Account setup under Advanced in Outlook express, such as delete after a certain period, 1 day maybe , or when you delete them from your deleted items folder.
Without a mail distribution system, you will have to go and use the best that Outlook Express allow you to.

Hope this helps.

Hi Again,
Just thought of an easier solution.
One of you will download the mail under that acount, while the other one could be working on another acount.
The one that does get that mail, can do a Forward rule of all email to the other's email address. Outlook express will do that automaticly to all arrinving mail or to ones sent to a specific person.
this does sound the best option if you do not mind the email being forwaded to you.

Good luck
