Last night I installed USB Zip on an IBM 390X thinkpad. Before I installed it I removed the drivers for the old one in the SCSI section of Control Panel. I accidentally deleted the SCSI driver for the CD-ROM as well.
After restoring the CD-ROMIDE driver I installed and tested the Zip and it was working fine. I sent the laptop home.
The guy called me about an hour after he left and said he couldn’t connect to the company modem pool. DUS was giving him an error. I don’t remember whatit was.
He brought the laptop back in and I uninstalled and reinstalled Dial-Up Services. It went on fine, but when I tried to reinstall the appropriate modem driver NT told me “Cannot register Modem.” It didn’t care which modem I tried. I eventried the new drivers from a floppy. Still nothing.
Next I ran “repair system files” from the the NT CD and reinstalled SP6. It didn’t help.
Also, when I try to view the “Drivers” tab of SCSI Adapters I get the error “Error ocurred getting driver list from inf file. Err=0.”
Any ideas? Is there a section in the registry I can wipe out?
Thanks!
Brian
