After installing Win XP I tried to play the DVD
and saw the message " Install Software DVD Decoder
or Hardware DVD Decoder ". Previously I have ME installed on this computer and everything was working fine till I installed XP. Where do I get this software or hardware decoder?
Thnx

Hi,

DVD decoding is not built into WinXP. You'll need to either re-install your old player - if its supported under XP or visit the microsoft site to find one that is...

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/windowsxp/buypacks.asp

(remove spaces in above URL)

There are others of course. I use WinDVD myself.

Cheers,
Tim.

If you are using a relatively new video card that supports DVD hardware decoding, you can download TweakXP from www.tweakxp.com and enable the DVD functions of Windows Media Player. It depends on your preference for a movie player.
