DVD-CD burner external problems

By duah ·
I bought a DVD-CD burner external LITEONE a year ago, have it USB 2.0 connected on new DELL 8400,now getting errors, wasting discs, locks up with red light on ,disc spinning, must force shut down to remove disc, but it does burn cds ok

DVD-CD burner external LITEONE
model LDW-851SX

problem seemed to start after ENABLED nero image drive v.2.27,so I could burn some cd discs, bin and cue images, which were successful, but now cannot burn DVDs, get errors like SCSI failed,or cannot end session, have a pdf of failures if that helps diagnose?

I disabled Nero Image drive, but no solution, nor can I use alcohol 120% ,it only creates problems

Uninstall ALL burning software and then reinstall your program of choice and only that program. Sounds like you are having driver conflicts.

If it's easy to load on another PC ( friends ) this would also double check that the Unit itself is ok.

Uninstall all burning software as above and also uninstall and re-install the burner as well.

Turn off any Virus, Firewall, Spamware etc during installs.

The unit uses 2 distinct lasers for burning DVDs and CD's. It would be great if you could install the DVD drive in another system to make sure the dvd-burning laser hasn't gone fubar.

BTW, are you using a new batch of blank DVDs??

More to the point did you start having problems with 8 X DVD's?

Quite a lot of burners would burn the old 4 X perfectly but balk at the 8 X for some reason even though the burners are supposed to be 12 X or better I have seen several different types have exactly the same problem ranging from the Sony dual Layer units to the cheap Pioneer ones and everything in between. but the only common thing is the blank DVD's.

Apparently there are some problems with the new 8 X DVD that the burners just will not accept but if you slow them down to 2 X or 4 X some seem to work OK. Have you tried that?
