DVD drive

I have a C++ program that turns off the regional protection on my DVD drive until computer is rebotted. It used to work fine on Win98 but after I upgraded to WinXP it is complaining there is no ASPI layer present. I tried downloading ASPI from adaptec.com, but the problem remains, any good ideas?

Windows XP does not support ASPI it has it own system (Dont ask)

Umm.. Try searching the registry or or use DVD Genie.

Power DVD lets u select the region 3 times

The whole point is to let me bypass region restrictions, we all know we can change it 5 times via control panel, but after that it will be permanent!! DVD Genie doesn't work either because my DVD drive is RPC-2.

Sorry but your answer was not helpful

Have you tried Region Killer?

Yes, region killer is no good at RPC-2 drivers, it only deals with limitations on the software part, not firmware/hardware.

Region Killer 2 does work with RPC 2. Check it out at elaborate.com. Quote :A hardware protected RPC-2 drive is "emulated" by a device driver! All player software and the Windows operating system "believe" in the hardware lock and will disable theirregion code checking. This is what the wonderful DVD Region Killer 2 does!
Your ASPI problem is due to concurrent sofftware that have it like Netmeeting. You should close all those programs before running the DVD.
I have RPC-2 drive, PowerDVD andwinDVD, latest version and it works.
