Dell Inspiron 5150, running WinXP-SP2. The fixed drive is recognized in Device Manager (with no error code), appears in Windows Explorer, and ejects properly when using the eject option in Windows Media Player. When media of any type is inserted, the drive shows as empty in Explorer. I’ve uninstalled the drive (via Device Manager) but “problem” remains. I’m going to try reseating the drive in the bay. I do recall that there are some registry tweaks that may solve this issue, but I’d rather exhaust other options before embarking on any registry tweaks. If you have any suggestions on how to solve this “problem,” I would definitely like to hear them.
