I've tried everything listed in the first thread. Here's the weird part. When I installed the drive in an external USB enclosure, it worked fine! Please help. Thanks.

Are you farmiliar with rpc. it is firm ware standard on all DVD Drives. It sets the region of the DVD that can be played on your player. Once it has been canged four times, thats it you can't change it anymore. Try using a region free dvd player. If that dosen't work download the latest firm ware from the site manufacturer read the instructions before installing it then install it then use a region free dvd player.
