DVD playback trouble

By FullyFamous ·
I installed a Samsung DVD burner in my PC w/ XP SP2, 384mgs ram. If I play a DVD with the included software (Nero), the audio skips and is jerky. If I play a DVD with Media Player 10, I get good video, but no audio output. What gives?

Sounds like a codec to me, try just installing the AC3Filter.

If that doesn't help you could try the K-Lite codec pack

Actually I've found that problem quite often with Nero I use Cyberlinks DVD Player which seems to work better than either Nero or Media Player.

here is what worked for me. turn off your screensaver in windows, uninstall the whole nero program and then using custom install, only install the nero showtime, and turn off autoplay, you will get better results. install the other nero components, only if you think you will use them on a regular basis and also--add more ram, if you can. if you install other nero components, turn off their start up options. nero is a big program that robs system resources even on bigger faster computers. i messed around with the settings in showtime also and found a happy medium. you might want to read up on how to adjust your swapfile for better performance you can search here at techrepublic for those directions. if i remember where, i will post it
good luck, hope this helps.
