DVD player software

By cruffin ·
I've inherited an HP OmniBook XE3 GC, Win 98 SE. Diagnostics tell me I have a Toshiba DVD/ROM drive. Plays CDs fine, doesn't recognize or play DVDs (but I can see the video files on the disc). Canb anyone direct me to the DVD player software?
Thanks.

Hi-

Win98 doesn't have a native dvd player, but there are a few out there that are free, as opposed to others costing upwards of $100.
One of my favorites is VLC player, its free, and it plays just about everything.
