DVD+r install issue

By bulldoggy_27 ·
I have installed a burner before and the last 3 worked flawless. I am now adding a secondary drive because I believe the earlier one is starting to fail. However, Tried to cable select both drives, then master/slave them both ways, and finally with the new drive alone on the cable. With all configurations widows sees the drive, I can burn with it , but it cannot read anything. This problem i thought was a vendor problem , but has now occured with 3 different made drives. Anyone got any Ideas ?

It sounds as if the correct drivers are not being installed

Depending on your Operating System all you should need to do is delete the Burner and reboot. If you have anything other than XP you'll probably need the recovery CD handy.

Once you have the system rebooted the Found New Hardware Wizard should run and install the necessary drivers as required. Note if you don't have some form of XP installed you'll be prompted for the original Install Disc and you'll have to dig around for the correct drivers on it but this shouldn't be a major problem.
