They are 3 different DVD recordable standards.

Much as video tape a number of years ago (remember BetaMax) their are compeeting standards vying for the DVD recordable market.

DVD-RAM is the first generation of a DVD-RW.

The -R and +R are both different (incompatable) writing formats.

I can't honestly say which is better.

If you leave this open, I can add on some DVD information links that I have on another PC tomorrow.

To add to answer 1. DVD technology progressed rapidly. The technology was released before a standard was established. Several manufacturers licensed the dvd-r and several licensed the dvd+r. Each group hoped their standard would become King.

Well Elvis has left the building. What we wound up with is two standards.

Not all drives are compatable with playing both formats.

Hope this has helped.
