    DVD Tray keeps opening

    Why is the DVD Tray keeps opening even I’m pushing it back then it would eject on its own..

    Please reply if you have answer for it. Thanks everybody..

      Does it have an eject button?

      Does it close when you press that button?

      If it has a button then perhaps that button is sticking?

      Will it eject like that with a DVD or CD in the drive?

      long ago there was a joke virus that used to eject you cdrom tray.

      but you should also check as stated by robo_dev for obstructions or sticking buttons.

        virus is what i’m suspecting too.. , I replace it with another drive and it proves the drive has the issue. Thanks for posting

      Just be broken and need replacing.

      I have seen numerous Faults with Draws opening or closing in Optical Drives and there are only really two things that it relates to.

      A sticking Button, Mechanism in the actual drive itself. You need to not only check the Button but the Emergency Release Mechanism for binding.

      Or the Electronics on the Circuit Board of the Optical Drive have copped a Hit by something either a Static Discharge or Power Spike and the drive needs replacing.

      CD / DVD drives will often cycle and stay open if the tray and internal mechanism get out of sync with each other.

      Pushing the drive tray to close it rather than using the open / close button is the number 1 way that the tray gets out of sync.

      Even a 1 gear tooth jump of the tray versus the mechanism will result in the tray cycling open after you try to close the tray.
