DVD writer in DELL 2950 power edge

Hi everybody,
I am facing a problem with my DELL 2950 power edge server , It’s not come with default DVD R/RW. but it’s optional.i.e. there’s one converter and one IDE cable along with the server . I put one (slim) DVR RW which run fine with other Server,laptop but not in my Dell server. I hv tried putting another one too n got same result.
Some times some DVD from HP, Wipro, IBM laptop works fine.But for one or for two days.

Is there anyway to make the server to support all DVD for ever ?
