DVD Writing Struck at 1% In samsung external Slim DVDW

By arun2006th ·
My issue is that writing strucks on 1% (only when writing DVD's). No issues while writing CD's. Some times writing is normal when writing RW DVD's. Writer is Samsung Slim External DVD writer. The product is under warranty and got replaced once. It is only 4 months old. Second time they refuesed to replace the writer as it is not showing any isssues in other computers. I reinstalled Windows and Nero. I almost tried all versions of Nero. Still got the same error shown below. Alcohol and Daemon Tools where previously installed, but I uninstalled it now and still getting same error. No issues with the USB port, other devices are working fine in the same port. I bought this writer because my laps internal writer got damaged which is of same make.I updated the writers firmware to the latest.....Please help.......

Replace the dead Internal Drive?

Only a one screw involved and you slide it out. Fit the bracket to the new one and slide it in and replace the screw.

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1525/en/SM/optical.htm#wp1179928

But here I'm assuming that you want to continue using the USB Burner and as it works on another computer it's fairly obvious that it's something to do with yours. I would suggest wiping the drive with something like Boot & Nuke

http://www.dban.org/

or Kill Disc

http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm

Both of which are free but first backup your Data to something different to this external Drive which isn't working properly.

Then using the Dell Recovery Disc which you may have to get from Dell if you do not have one rebuild the system and then install Nero. See if it works now with just the bare install running. If it does then install one application at a time and retest to see when it stops working correctly.

The last application that you installed is the problem and you need to take steps to fix it from there.
