Games of all sorts have problems with sound such as quick pauses in sound. Some games sound, just sounds like it is at an accelerated speed. The
video for the games have a similar problem with speed. Have tried two different cdrom drives and have the same sound and video problems. I first found this problem with my DVD player playing DVD audio and video at least double the speed it should. I called Liteon Support for my DVD Player with the video & sound problems and they were stumped. This cpu has also made a loud buzz sound when forwarding through the DVD chapters. When this happens the DVD picture goes away and is replaced with a black screen. Once this happens the cpu is totally frozen. Control Alt Delete doesn’t even help. This cpu has also had almost daily blue screens when trying to use the cpu for anything. Most blue screens are Fatal Exceptions, some would be Illegal Operations. Have ran virus scans and scandisk on hard drive with no viruses or errors.
Tried: 1. Disconnecting DVD Player. 2. Removed all pci cards. 3. Removed floppy drive. 4. Reset BIOS config to Default. 5. Tried different IDE cable for CDROM. 6. Tried swapping IDE controllers on M/B. I would appreciate some more ideas for troubleshooting this problem. By the way my M/B is a ASUS (A7N266-VM) with an AMD XP 2000 processor. Running Win98se.
