Dynamic Disk Conversion in SBS 2000

By aford ·
Converting from Basic to Dynamic Disks in Windows 2000 is quite straight forward, but it seems that everytime we try to do it with Windows 2000 Small Business Server we get all sorts of problems from blue screens to data dumps. On our newer servers we do the conversion after 2000 is installed but before the rest of SBS is installed. This works fine but it doesn't help the older servers that we need to convert after SBS has been installed. Is converting from basic to dynamic disks in SBS 2000 supported? Or do we have to reinstall and start again?

When you get those blue screens there should also arise one or more error messages with error codes. These messages and codes are needed to actually solve this problem.

What edition of Windows 2000 do you use?
Windows 2000 Professional, Server, Advanced Server, or Datacenter Server?

The solution shouldn't be that far away as I see it.

Windows 2000 Small Business Server, as far as I am aware only comes in Standard Server Edition.
