Which dll ... which version of windows? In both win2000 and winxp, you can boot up to a repair "screen" where most things can be fixed. With earlier versions, win ME, 98, 95 ... I'm not so sure. What was done before this started happening ... newsoftware, new hardware, updates?

Running win 98. I don't recall the exact message i am not at that computer right now. I did not update or add anything to pc. Lots of people have access to this pc but i don't think any of them would have updated or added anything. Mabey a windows update and thats it.

too many possibilities for this one without the exact error message. you could try your hand at Start/Run/msconfig <enter> and (carefully) disable half the stuff, see if you get your error, then disable the other half. but kinda an advanced thing totry. and I would backup the registry before I did this...

Are you running perchance Zone Alarm firewall and updated recently while the firewall was running? If so, uninstall the ZA and got back to their site (www.zonealarm.com, download the newest version & re-install it. This sometimes happens when an update is tried before the installed version is completely shut down.

But like he said previously...without the actual error message there's no telling what it is. Keep a pen & paper handy, you can never tell when it will save your bacon.

Good Luck....Just an idea to try.
