E-Mail Access by Other Users

By ToroRojo ·
I am the IT Manager for a company with 24 employees. Our email is outsourced to our ISP and each user has their own email address. 21 of these users handle business from different areas of the business and each receives unique email from their respective area.

On occasion an employee will be out of the office for one reason or another (sickness, travel, etc.) and someone else must gain access to the missing person's email.

We are currently running mainly Win9x clients with a handful ofWin2K clients, but intend on upgrading all clients to Win2K in the very near future.

How could I allow other users to access the missing person's email without compromising network security by giving them UserID and Password to access the local email clients?

I have tried using aliases, but that gets confusing when replies are sent out from the different email account. The replies should seem to originate from the original email recipient. Keep in mind that this scenario occurs with almost every single one of these users and each person has a different "backup".

Thanks in advance for your help and comments.
