E2k Front End / Back End server question

By RamblinWrek ·
OK a curious issue. I have recently brought online a front end E2k server for our back end E2K server. Both are in the same domain. Followed the white paper exactly yet when I go to the front end site (http://"servername"/exchange) I do get a login screen but in order to login it is requiring me to add the domain ("domain name"\username). Any ideas on why this is happening?

When configuring both the front end and back servers for owa:

On the Front End under the default Web Site, Under Directory Security, Anonymous and Authentication control choose edit, check the basic authentication, edit, under domain Name use a On the Back End ender ESM find the HTTP protocol on the back end server, Exchange Virtual Server, Exchange, Properties, Access, Authentication, under the basic authentication put a \ in the space.

The \ means search all trusted domains for the userID, It works great.
