Easy and Free for Business Database Software
I work for a very small company that would not be open to buying any “unnecessary” software, including MSOffice products. We currently use LibreOffice because it has no requirement to obtain a business license. Many of my co-workers often make a mess of the formatting of spreadsheets and LibreOffice currently has no way to protect just the formatting of cells. I have as yet, been unable to find any database software that doesn’t have a huge learning curve. I need something nearly as simple as a spreadsheet, 100% free for a business, and 100% offline (we cannot have any web or cloud based documents). Does anything like this exist?
I tried playing with LibreBase and keep running into things that don’t seem to work as expected. In the past, I worked with a co-worker at a previous job to create an Access database, and we worked for months in our spare time to get it halfway to a useful state. I’m looking for something to essentially be a more secure version of a spreadsheet, enter data in a spreadsheet and print off in a report that has the appropriate formatting and won’t get messed up. The hard part is that the spreadsheet will have to be designed similar to the report, not the typical database matrix, so as to not confuse the techphobic among my co-workers.
