Easy CD Creator vs Windows 2000

    Locked

    by jwilkinson ·

Has anyone figured out a way to allow regular users to use the CD burning capabilities of Adaptec’s (Roxio) Easy CD Creator without bumping permissions up to the Power User level? There has to be a way to accomplish this!

There is a patch for this available on Adaptecs Web Site (sorry don’t know it off hand). Just download and install on the users PC. I ran into this same problem and installing the patch worked fine.
      Hope this helps

Give users “local administrator” permission in the workstation with the CDR/CDRW.

      Win2k has to write to registry(Profile S

      To answer your question?
Plainly no! Win2k needs to write system and registry related files in order for a programm like Roxio to function. It will need to right to the registry for every user that has created a profile on that local machine(machine that they are using where the Roxio software resides). Power User is a group that allows that function(permission to write files to the system).

Just a note: Some programs don’t allow you to install then even as a power user(I.E. Palm Pilot software) The user must be a part of the local administrators group. In otherwords, they must be an admin to thier local machine(computer)in order to install the program. So Power User is the most common for allowable persmissions in Win2k for manyprograms. I hope this explains, or helps you understand your question?
