Easy VPN setup

By bryant ·
I need help and suggestions on setting up a VPN for about 3 users. Office is setup on a DSL connection (about 30 users). Only two people on a seperate work group called accounting. The owners want to look at accounting data from home. The owners also have DSL. Will I need to add an additional VPN router?

If you're running xp then you can go under network connections, right click the incoming connections icon, click allow others to make private connections... which you'll see right under the heading Virtual Private network. Then make sure they're added to the list under the users tab. You can add a user or a group. Check the box that says require all users to secure their Ensure that the users and groups have permissions to access the files they need on the server and then your end will be set up. Next, record the ip address of the server, give that to the users and tell them to go to start/programs/accessories/communications/new connection wizard. A location box will pop up asking for an area code, etc. THEY MUST ENTER THE INFO EVEN THOUGH THEY WONT BE DIALING UP. (i'm not sure why windows won't let you continue without the info). Then enter a company name for the connection. On the next screen click do not dial the initial connection. Then click next and then enter the ip address. They'll be given an option to make a shorcut to the connection on their desktop and then the'll be good to go as far as network access.
hope that helps
