eDir Installation

By Megtek ·
Not sure which topic to put this under but...I am trying to install eDir 8.7 onto a Solaris 8 machine. I know NOTHING about Solaris so I desparately need help! I have figured out how to get to the CD-Rom drive through the Command prompt. I go to the setup directory of my CD and type nds-install which is what I have been told is the way to do it. Says file not found. Then I do an "ls" and I see that the file is listed as nds-in~1 so I try to execute the setup by typing that. Same error - File not found. Ugh...please help.

in slaris unless you have a path statment pointing to the
directory that the file you are trying to execute you will
need to either type ./nds-install or the full path
/mnt/cdrom/directory/nds-install

also you may want to do a ls -l and check to make sure
that the file is marked as executabel, it will have an x if it
is exacutable.
ex.
-r-xr-xr-x nds-install

I think I have fixed everything, except it now says "end of file unexpected". I don't know how to end the file, I tried fi, ctrl z, done, end and q - none of those things worked. also, since the executable file on the cd had syntax errors, and I made a copy to the hard drive to fix it, how do I make my copy executable? do I need to if I am putting in "sh ./nds-install" ?
