EICON workstation has slow connection

By garyhoward ·
At work i co-administer a WAN using three mini servers and one main server. We also use two or three EICON workstations (WS) with secure modems. The EICON stations are the hardest to administer. After several set ups we have got them all working except....
One of the EICON WS will not connect to the main server. However it will connect to a mini server (it has to connect to this via the main server). Would distance be the major contributing factor in causing the connection to be excessivly slow which means it will not get to the main server site?
If so what can be done to "speed" it up or give it a power boost?

EICON workstation has slow connection

As I understand your question, you have three servers connected in series to each other in this format.

WS1 ----- MAIN ----- WS2

The problem is that WS2 can connect to WS1, but not to MAIN. Because of this, I do not think that your problem isrelated to speed, although I do not know what speed connection you are using. Since you must pass through MAIN to get between the WS machines, the routing table should be fine. The first thing that I would check is to ensure that the MAIN machine is running the same protocol(s) as the other two machines.

Let me know if this does or does not take care of your problem.
