my girl friend has an HP dv 6500 w/vista home premium, she’ had her laptop restart and it loaded with elbycheck has detected a corrupt or missing file pxhelp20. we’ve tried everything suggested on multiple sites, delete the reg key for lowerfilter, disabling elbycheck.exe in the startup list, tried updating the firmware for both the drive itself and the whole pc. the device does not appear in the device manager and/or mycomputer. she did not receive any disc’s from HP when her folks bought her the pc.
any suggestions and help will be greatly appreciated.
i thank you all for your time and help that you offer. i hope that we will arrive at a solution thta helps her avoid having to reinstall windows completely.
