I will be speaking at IIPSEC (International IP Security Exhibition and
Conference) later this month, which is held in the UK
from 24th to 26th, and I will report back from the Conference on the
latest in the Physical Security space.

It's interesting to note that there are several aspects of physical
security and access that are now running over the IP network, and the
war over who should be responsible for them has not yet begun in many
organisations. Should it be left to the outsourced contractor
responsible for the security gaurds and CCTV's or should it be the IT
director as all this equipment is now using the IP network. There are
several arguements for and against both sides, I'll give you my take on
this by the end of the week, but before I do that I'll be interested to
get some feedback on whether it's even an issue as yet within your
organisations first. So far, I have not come across may organisations
that are even putting this on the agenda until I discussed the security
implications of this.
Trusted Computing Conference

by EmbeddedGuy In reply to Embedded Security

Here is a very interesting Conference at the end of the month.

DTI conference on Trusted Computing on 26th January to those who may be interested.

Details are at:

The objectives of this conference are to:
- raise awareness of the need for trusted computing;
- outline the options that are available;
- highlight the implications of deploying trusted systems;
- discuss the steps that have to be taken to ensure the smooth
migration to systems that can be trusted to do e-business

Speakers include:
- Eddie Bleasdale, CEO, netproject
- Dr David Everett, CEO, Smart Card Group
- David Aucsmith, Senior Director, Institute for Advanced Technology in Governments, Microsoft Corporation
- Alan Cox, Lead Linux Kernel Developer and Security Architect
- Ross Anderson, Professor of Security Engineering, University of Cambridge Computer Lab

The juxtaposition of speakers looks set to make for a lively and
informative meeting on a subject that goes to the heart of current
problems on both security and identity. I am told that the room will
take a hundred and that sixty places are already spoken for.

This conference is being held at:
The DTI Conference Centre, Victoria Street, London, On Thursday 26th Jan from 9am to 1:30pm.

Attendance is free to IT managers/strategists.

To make a booking please send an email to with the name of the delegate.
