Embedded Systems Hard Drives

by medicalman . Updated 21 years, 5 months ago

I have many computer based embedded systems that operate across many OS platforms from dos to unix to other kinds I am not even aware of. Some use IDE drives and some use SCSI. I need a method to clone a backup hard drive to replace the current one should it fail. I would like to remove the drive from a system, clone it and then return it to the system in short order. I have used Ghost before but have not used it with unix or cross platform. I have seen disk cloning hardware but I am not able to spend $5,000. I am cloning to have an immediate solution for a failed drive. Most OEM manufacturers I deal with will sell me replacement drives with the software preloaded at rediculous pricing. I would really like to build a cloning machine out of old hardware I have and a purchased software package. Any thoughts?
