Emoticons & Smilies...

I think we all know a friend who uses these. I have a friend who is a quadraplegic and he loves to use them in his emails and it's a way for him to express some emotions, etc.

The problem may be me but I simply don't trust all these sites that offer them for free but you have to "sign up", so I keep telling him to avoid them.

Here's my question: Do any of you know of some safe sites that offer emoticons/smilies that ARE SAFE and you don't have to give up your email address etc. to get the free emoticons.

Thanks for your help. My buddy will appreciate any help you can provide.

I used to use four different sources

by NickNielsen In reply to Emoticons & Smilies...

Two of them were pages from private users who had uploaded them. Unfortunately, three are now off-line. This is the only one left: http://www.emoticonsfree.org/

Your friend can link directly to these by right-clicking, then copying and pasting the html code. No log-in required, that I'm aware of.

Your mail client doesn't display a fistfull of common emoticons?

by seanferd In reply to Emoticons & Smilies...

Or are these for embedding? Never used one of those smiley sites, and I've been curious just what the heck people used them for.

We used to use them here

Back when TR allowed embedded images in the posts.

They still work

Nah, the images we used to be able to embed ourselves.

At least Tammy gave us a further fistfull a while back, although I don't use half of them. OTOH, I've used ones that I've not seen anyone else use. v/ :-bd

Remember OnTheRopes' corrected chart? Ah, nostalgia.

Not the standard TR smilies

Remember a couple years back, when we could embed images directly in the posts with html code? I've got a number of smilies on my PhotoBucket page that I used to use all the time. http://s111.photobucket.com/albums/n152/nnielsen/Emoticons/?start=all

Jaqui used to have a page full of them, but it's down. I also used to pull from the Pub and the Digital Coffee Lounge, but they're down too. Jaqui I understand, but I was a member of the other sites, and they couldn't even send me an email when they went off-line.

That's the old list

There's a newer one, but I don't think I posted it on Photobucket.

Aye, I was referring to the fact that OTR used to post that for people.

I don't recall if he made the emoticons_fixed image, but he conveiently pointed it out to people with some regularity. And I saw it was in your 'Bucket right after I mentioned it.
