Empl’ee Private E mail access by Emp’er After EE has left job….

by larrydcow2002 . Updated 16 years, 5 months ago

Hi: Don’t know much about IT but think I know about privacy. I left a job in June. My private E mail (Hot mail) which i did access from Employer hardware is still somehow showing up on their PC. (from what I understand, when you go to hot mail, my acct name remains and somehow they’ve been able to get in…) So, What Ive been informed is since June 06 managers and others are accessing it and reading it.

My questions:

1) I am no longer an employee so these mails have nothing to do with the company

2) they are personal/not business (to them) in nature

3) Can I determine where my accounts were opened from (ie can MS determinine that on X date my mail was opened from Computer #4 at my old employer …while I was in , say Cleveland??)

4) …and although I did sign some notice that the use of PC would be business related…now that I am gone doesnt that become moot? ….and in the alternative, how do they justify cont. monitoring of my emails on a private account as “business”?

Just some things to throw out….I look forward to some community insight.

Thanks ,
Tony
