Employment law and layoffs

By terrence_boggs ·
I know that there is a law that states that if 50 employee's or more or more than half of the workforce at one location is layed off, that 60 days notice be given. The law was made in 1998 and I have been told that it applies to IT positions, not just blue collar. Could someone verify that information?

Call HR, if not your own then at another local company. The HR Mgr. should be a good source of info on this. If you care to dig and sift through employment law, you could do an on-line search with Dept. of Labor. I did it once for a different question, that was an interesting week!
Good Luck.
