re out of ink

Read the manual for your printer. Some printers support operation when one ink tank is empty, others do not. Plain and simple LOGIC would tell you that if the printer runs without color ink, it runs. If it does not, then it does not.

Of course, in the time it takes you to read the manual (or wait for a post here), you could have made it to one of the local stores that supply your ink and purchased another one. But, who's counting.

Why not select 'Monotone' from the print menu ? . . .

by OldER Mycroft In reply to empty color ink

Select 'Print Preview' and there should be an option for 'Grayscale' or something similar.

Since this only involves a supply of black ink and white paper, I shouldn't think that the printer will complain!

If you cannot

Select "grey scale", remove the color cartridge. That should cause the printer to only use the black cart and quit complaining.
