Enable Chat Rooms through Squid Proxy

Hi,

We r using Squid as a proxy server. Following problems I have:

1. I want to assign Internet facility to limited users not to all. How ?

2. Our users r not available to connect to any chat rooms of yahoo or MSN,.

Can anybody help me to solve these problems.

It?s simple. For allocating or not the right to use the Internet, you can make in several modes. The most easy way to users who have no rights for internet, don?t allocate the right to access the gateway, or don?t install the internet connection. For the second part of your question you must set the proxy server to the chat program.
Go to connect and enable using proxy server, give the proxy?s IP Address, and the port for using (usually port nr. 80 or 321

1. Our most users use windows OS with local administrator is enabled. They can change their network settings. I want to block them through MAC or something else.

2. Messengers are already configured with proxy settings at port 8080 but still unable to go in a chat room through messenger or even from a web browser.

Enable authentication on squid with ldap , so that user based access is given. squid guard at the back gives still more options ..
