Enable service through Active Directory

I wish to enable the messenger service on all XP machines. Can this be done through active directory or any other method?

You can use an adminsitrative template and turn the service on via the GPO.

You can also use these to make registry punches as well.

START, RUN, type MMC. Open a snap in and focus on Local or remote computer...blah!blah! blah! RE:Group Policy. Navigate down to Local Computer Policy>Computer Configuration>Administratice Templates>Windows Components>Windows Messenger and in the right hand pane, choose the options you wish to enable or disable. Publish the policy, Susan's your uncle...
