Thanks for your help, but the procedure given in the first article that you mentioned didn't worked for windows 2000 client. This is because I don't find any "REG_DWORD" value named "fDenyTSConnection" when I connected to the registry of win2k client remotely. Is that procedure specific to windows 2003. If that is the case then can you please suggest how to enable remote desktop on win2k client (preferably by working on machine itself ). I don't find doing this is as simple as in case of win Xp.

The Win 2000 client does not have Remote Desktop (XP does).
For Win 2000 server, install Terminal Services and select Administrative Mode (not user mode)
for RDP equivalent.
