Encryption File System in Win 2000

I read from the books that Win 2000 EFS i.e. Encryption File System uses Public & private Encryption.

now what is this public & private encryption & How to do this ?

  To answer your question about public & private encryption, you should read some of the white papers found here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/howitworks/default.asp#section5.
  
  As for the way to to this:
  Select the files or folder you want to encrypt, right mouse click and select properties. Then click on advanced and select ‘Encrypt…’
