If you only want to hide the formulas, select the columns; choose Format Cells and the Protection tab. Check the Hidden box. Now protect the sheet with Tools>Protection.

You could also hide the columns.

If you remove the "Locked" attribute from the cells that need input, you can password protect the sheet and lock only the cells you want to encrypt.

While not true encryption, you can hide formulas in the same manner. You can also change the fonts and fill to the same color and then protect the sheet.
What do you intend the encryption to accomplish?

Doug, thanks for the input. I'm looking at encrypting three columns or the entire worksheet or the flat file. Locking with a password is not what I'm looking for. Thanks again. If anyone has an idea, please feel free to help.

Yes, Julia, Can you better define what you are trying to do when you state that you are "encrypting" the 3 specific columns you are working on????

I'd need to send a spreadsheet to a user with 3 columns encrypted. Only this specific user is able to read that 3 columns, but no one else. This spreadsheet contains 7 columns. I hope it is clear. Thanks again.
