      Start with a business plan.

You have to figure out: what kind of business you are going after, who your customer will be, how much you will charge etc. You need to figure out what your costs are(income, business expenses), how much revenue you need to generate to cover your costs as well.

You also need to do a little market research -are there other companies providing the same service to the same area – what do they charge – is there room for your business?

Then you need to consider some marketing – how will you get your name out there? How much will it cost to do that/what can you afford?

being an entrepreneur is much more than having the technical ability – its being a marketer/salesman/accountant and lots of other things aswell. Usually my advice is not to do this straight out of school, but to work for another company for a few years, make some business contacts, take on some side jobs, and build up a nest egg, before going out on your own.
